On Sep. 5, 2017, the 1st Industrial Data Science Conference (IDS 2017) was co-organized by RapidMiner and TU Dortmund (Group on Artificial Intelligence, headed by Prof. Dr. Katharina Morik and the Institute of Production Systems, headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jochen Deuse). The conference took place at TU Dortmund.
The opening address for the conference was made by Ralf Klinkenberg. After welcoming the attendants, Ralf presented various industrial data science applications and best practices. He also shared the innovations made by RapidMiner Research team (which he heads) including the DS4DM project. Other speakers at the conference included representatives from industry such as Lufthansa Industry Solutions, Achenbach Buschhütten, BMW, Miele, Daimler, Volkswagen, ABB, ArcelorMittal and Deutsche Edelstahlwerke. RapidMiner researchers affiliated with the DS4DM project (Dr. Edwin Yaqub, Philipp Schlunder, David Arnu and Dr. Fabian Temme) also participated in the event and took the opportunity to spread awareness about the project during the informal discussions with the participants.
